Winter Farmers Market in Oak Ridge add to itinerary

From hand-roasted coffee to local produce, meat, eggs, cheese and more, the Winter Farmers Market, by Grow Oak Ridge LLC, will offer a brand new experience in Oak Ridge. The market is open each Saturday (closed Dec. 23 & 30) from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, bringing more than 40 local food and artisan vendors indoors in the Secret City. The market will be located in the gym at St. Mary's School gym, 323 Vermont Avenue, Oak Ridge.

Christmas in Old Appalachia add to itinerary

The simple joys of an old-fashioned Christmas await Museum of Appalachia visitors during the month of December.  Music of the season can be heard across the grounds. Cabins will be decorated in pioneer style, recalling times past when Christmas was a simple family holiday including cedar Christmas trees draped with paper chains, popcorn strings, sweet gum and sycamore balls. Christmas shoppers will find many hand-crafted items in the gift shop. Hot, country-style lunches are served daily from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the museum restaurant and homemade cakes, pies, cookies and other holiday treats are available all day.  For more information, contact the museum at 865-494-7680.

Holiday Express Train Exhibit at Children's Museum of Oak Ridge add to itinerary

The Holiday Express, a miniature village with garden-scale model trains and thousands of lights will open at the Children's Museum of Oak Ridge on Friday, Dec. 8th. The Holiday Express features a 2,500 square foot G-scale railroad display and will be open through January 1st.

New Year Hike at Norris Dam State Park add to itinerary

Enjoy a midnight hike for New Year’s Eve at Norris Dam State Park. The hike will begin and end at the Tea Room. This will be a moderate 2 mile hike and will take place rain or shine. Afterward, warm up with a fire and refreshments in the Tea Room. Flashlights are needed and any reflective wear would be great. For more information, call 865-426-7461.

Norris Dam 12k Challenge add to itinerary

This race is part of the Tennessee State Parks Running Tour which is in its 38th year running. This is a 12k race in and around Norris Dam State Park. The 12k race starts and finishes at the Park Headquarters of Norris Dam State Park. This is a challenging course, a hill runner’s delight! Bring a Crock Pot of Chili for the famous and friendly chili cooking competition after the race to warm your bones. The more chili the merrier!

Neko's Birthday Ride at Windrock Bike Park add to itinerary

Take the challenge of completing 25 runs down the mountain to celebrate park owner and pro racer Neko Mulally’s 25th birthday.

FLW High School Fishing Tournament add to itinerary

FLW will be hosting a High School Fishing Tournament on Norris Lake, Sunday, February 25th. Registration will take place at Anderson County Park on Saturday, February 24th at 5:30 pm. Take off will be on Sunday, February 25th at 7:30 am and weigh in will take place at 3:30 pm. There is no entry fee and the tournament is open to all SAF members.

Pro Gravity Tour Windrock Bike Race add to itinerary

The 2018 Pro Gravity Tour is Windrock Bike Park’s Premier Event. The tour will consist of 7 rounds with the season kicking off at Windrock Bike Park on March 7-11. This race will attract riders from around the world to compete in a unique, early season race.

5-County Norris Lake Clean-Up add to itinerary

Norris Lake is one of East Tennessee’s most loved recreation destinations, but the garbage that is constantly dumped in the lake is causing an eye sore. Therefore the five counties that contain Norris Lake have banned together to clean up the problem. The clean-up will take place on Saturday, March 24th. Spring Wildflower Hike add to itinerary

Join Norris Dam State Park and TVA staff for guided hikes along the cool Clinch River, one of the most diverse pathways of wildflower concentrations in the region. Hikes will begin at 10am and 1pm at the River Bluff trailhead and 2pm at the Lower Creek trailhead, located at the Rice’s Gristmill. Registration is not required and there is no charge for the hikes. Maxxis Gravity Series at Windrock Bike Park add to itinerary

The Maxxis Gravity Series is the Mid-Atlantic region’s premier race series. Bringing them into the southeast will bring new faces to Windrock Bike Park. Spectators are welcome.
