July 4th Celebration and Anvil Shoot
- Description:
- July 4th will be celebrated in an unusual, dramatic, and traditional fashion at the Museum of Appalachia. Anvils will be shot periodically throughout the day. In addition, there will be patriotic ceremonies, demonstrations of other traditional activities such as open-hearth cooking, wood carving, blacksmithing, saw milling, rail spliting, crosscut sawing, spinning, and buggy rides. Old Time music will be played and sung on the porches of the cabins and in the old log church. The demonstrations and music can be found throughout the 65-acre farm/village complex.
