Norris Dam

Norris Dam was the first dam built by the Tennessee Valley Authority in 1936 for flood control and to bring efficient electrical power to East Tennessee.  Norris Dam is 265 feet high and stretches 1,860 feet across the Clinch River.  You can enjoy the views of the mountains and valleys at the overlooks and trails that surround the dam.

Clinch River

Many experienced anglers consider the Clinch tail waters that flows 13 miles from Norris Dam,  to be the finest trout fisheries in the Country.  The clear, shallow, slow-moving Clinch demands a stealthy approach, delicate presentation, small flies and draf-free drifts.  It is very much like fishing a spring creek, but it is over 75 years wide.  To consistently catch its wild, wary rainbow and brown trout requires concentration, careful execution and patience.  Click here for a release schedule.
